Skin Peel expectations

Treatment expectations Beautiful skin doesn’t happen overnight, and treatments take time to show results. A single chemical peel can provide the immediate effect of bright and radiant skin; however, more significant results in treating textural issues, fine lines and inflamed acne will take time.

Will the treatment hurt?

During your skin peel you may feel tingling and a heated sensation, although some clients don't feel anything at all. Immediately after the treatment you may experience slight pinkness of the skin but this usually settles down within a couple of hours, and again, some clients have no pinkness. But the treatment and recovery should not be painful in anyway.

I don't know which treatment to book in for.

Don't worry. A full skincare consultation and assessment will be carried out on each visit. We will then have a discussion together and decide on a treatment option for you. With the multilayering process with AlumierMD, we can mix and match different solutions on your skin, to target your skin concerns and maximise results.

What is a chemical peel?

Chemical peels cause intentional damage to the epidermis and/or dermis with the goal of stimulating new tissue to improve skin texture and tone.Chemical peels have been used dating back to Ancient Egypt. Cleopatra used sour milk to improve the appearance of her skin, according to some sources. Lactic acid (an alpha hydroxy acid) is the active ingredient in sour milk.

Will AlumierMD chemical peels cause unsightly redness and peeling, like Samantha in that Sex and the City episode?

No. Clients sometimes expect to peel throughout the entire treated area. Butpost-treatment peeling is often similar to peeling after a tan. In some cases, exfoliation occurs on a cellular level and is not apparent to the naked eye. The exfoliation a client will experience varies depending on the peel strength and individual skin profile. AlumierMD chemical peels are light- to medium-depth, and are formulated to reduce irritation and redness.

What can I expect right after a chemical peel?

The skin is initially tender and more sun-sensitive as the epidermis renews itself. After the peeling takes its course (usually 3-5 days after the treatment), fresh new skin emerges and ingredients in home care products start to work more effectively. You will be given instructions  pre and post-treatment care as well as an after care pack to continue use at home. It is very important that you follow these directions to ensure optimal results.

How can chemical peels benefit the skin?

Chemical peels improve skin texture and firmness, decreasing fine lines and wrinkles. Peels also even out skin tone, improve acne-prone skin and reduce pore size appearance.

Can I combine professional treatments and home care products?

AlumierMD professional treatments and home care products were specifically designed to complement one another and boost results. Your skin care professional will recommend the optimal combination for you.
